Every year, nearly 180,000 Americans experience seizures and epilepsy. For those older than 65, a number of diseases lead to epilepsy, including stroke, cardiovascular disease, brain tumors and Alzheimer’s disease.
With more than 40 different types of epilepsy, our multi-disciplinary team creates an individualized approach to seizures and treatment plans. The INI Epilepsy Center is home to the most advanced diagnostic technologies. That means patients can expect the most precise diagnosis and the broadest array of treatment options.
The tests we use include the following:
- Continuous audiovisual EEG monitoring
- EEG Source Imaging
- 3 Tesla MRI utilizing special seizure protocols
- Diffusion Tensor Imaging with Tractography
- Functional MRI
- PET scanning
- SPECT scanning
- Wada testing
