Inpatient Rehabilitation
Inpatient Rehabilitation
The INI provides rehabilitation therapy to patients in all areas of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Physicians may order therapy services for a wide range of unique rehabilitation needs.
Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Program
Our CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Unit of the Illinois Neurological Institute is located on the second floor of the Glen Oak Building within the medical center complex. It is a designated 26-bed unit serving patients with referrals from throughout the region. The unit is under the direction of a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatrist) and a nursing patient care manager. A clinical rehabilitation nurse specialist is available to patients to provide in-depth expertise in rehabilitation.
The Rehabilitation Unit serves individuals 13 years of age and older who would benefit from rehabilitation nursing services and interdisciplinary rehabilitation programming. Rehabilitation is provided to patients who meet the admission criteria and who are diagnosed with a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. Patients who qualify for admission to the rehabilitation unit receive a minimum of 3 hours of coordinated therapy daily, a comprehensive evaluation by all needed services, and a coordinated treatment plan which centers on patient and family needs and concerns. The rehabilitation team meets weekly to update treatment plans and to ensure the team focus remains on identified goals.
The comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program provides intensive services in which patients are encouraged to give maximal effort in therapy participation. Family participation is encouraged and valuable training is given to enhance patients' rehabilitation outcomes.
