Sleep Study

The Next Steps After Your Sleep Study
  • Your test will be scored by a sleep technologist in the next day or two.
  • A sleep specialist physician will interpret the study.
  • The test results will be sent to your referring physician.
  • If you are scheduled for a follow up appointment at the INI Sleep Disorders Center, your test results will be discussed with you at your upcoming appointment.
  • If you have been scheduled for testing only, please contact your referring physician within two weeks to inquire about your test results.

Instructions For Patients Who Have Had A CPAP Titration (Test)

  • Your CPAP will be ordered as soon as your study has been interpreted.
  • Your CPAP prescription will be sent to a home care company who will provide you with the equipment.
  • The home care company will contact you and arrange a time to provide you with the equipment, demonstrate it to you, and explain how to use it and clean it. At that appointment, you should be sure to demonstrate to the home care company representative that you have learned how to put CPAP on correctly.
  • Once you have CPAP, you should wear it every night (and any other time you sleep). You will follow up with the INI Sleep Disorders Center sleep specialist in about 6 - 8 weeks. If you do not have an appointment, please contact us and we will make one for you.
  • Very important: If you have any problems with your CPAP before your follow visit with OSF Saint Francis Sleep Disorders Center sleep specialist (such as mask fit or discomfort), please contact the home care company or the OSF Saint Francis Sleep Disorders Center to help solve the problem. One goal of your office visit in a few weeks is to report how you feel on CPAP after wearing it regularly.
  • If you do not have your CPAP within 2 weeks of your testing, please call (309) 624-9960 and we will advise you.

You may call the INI Sleep Disorders Center at 309-624-9960 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm with any questions or concerns regarding your study or follow up.
