Dr. Wang is the Director of the INI Stroke Center & Network. He has led the INI Stroke Center to become the first JCAHO certified primary stroke center in the State of Illinois. As a Board Certified Vascular Neurologist, Dr. Wang currently is a member of the Illinois Stroke Task Force, Leader of the Stroke Practice and Patient Safety Work Group and a member of the Executive Committee of the Vascular Section of the American Academy of Neurology, a member of the Acute Advisory Board of National Stroke Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Midwest Affiliate of the American Heart Association. |

Dr. Arun Talkad, Board-certified in Neurology, completed his neurology residency at INI Saint Francis Medical Center in 2005. He was the first to complete the vascular neurology/stroke fellowship through the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in 2006. He became an attending neurologist within the OSF Neurology department upon completion of his stroke fellowship in July 2006. He manages inpatients on the stroke service, in conjunction with the stroke nurse coordinator and stroke advanced practice nurse. He and Dr. Wang provide treatment for acute in hospital stroke patients and manage follow-up stroke care in the INI Stroke Clinic. In addition, he maintains and administrative role as the assistant director of the INI Stroke Network. |

Maureen Mathews has been a Board Certified Advanced Practice Nurse since 1994. She spent eight years working in a Primary Care Practice. Maureen has been part of the OSF Stroke Service since November of 2002 and obtained her Certified Neurological Registered Nurse Certification in 2006. She has presented numerous lectures regarding stroke and stroke risk factor management for nursing, other health care professionals and the general public. Maureen is an active member of AHA/ASA, AANN, ISAPN, Sigma Theta Tau and AANP. She is also active in community associations promoting health care, as well as, community service organizations. |

| Profile of Jan Jahnel, RN, CNRN | |

As a member of the INI stroke team, Jan is involved with staff education, as well as, community education regarding stroke recognition, treatment and prevention. As the Stroke Coordinator she is involved with maintaining the INI Stroke Center’s Joint Commission accreditation as a certified Primary Stroke Center, including process improvement and protocol development. She is active with the Refresh and Retreat stroke camp as a camp volunteer and is a member of the board of directors. She is a co-author on various publications and poster presentations regarding stroke and stroke treatment. Jan Jahnel has been a neuroscience nurse for 13 years. She graduated from the Illinois Central College Nursing program in 1995. She also earned an Associate Degree in Marketing and Management from Illinois Central College in 1979. Jan has a strong interest in neuroscience patients with a special focus on cerebral vascular issues. She became a Certified Neuroscience Nurse in 2005. Jan has experience as a staff nurse, charge nurse, case manager and now as the Stroke Nurse Coordinator for the INI Stroke Center and the INI Stroke Network. |
